It is important to consider entertaining your family while travelling. Fuel costs have resulted in an increase in the price of airline tickets as it takes a lot of gas to fly a plane. This is just part of the reason for a revival in road trip style vacations. Packing your family into a car for a multi-hour trip is relatively cheap, but it’s important to keep the family entertained during the trip.
Kids today engage in consistently thrilling video games and can have a hard time dealing with a long road trip. One technological innovation that has aided families on road trips are DVD players that strap on to the back of the driver or passenger side head rest. Headphones plug into these devices so the rest of the need not hear all the noise. While it’s nice to balance quiet time with the family talking together as a group, the DVD players are more affordable now than ever and can give necessary respite time for parents.
Road trips are an excellent way to introduce kids to music they haven’t been exposed to before. On the flip side, urge your kids to make a mix cd of music they like and then play the music on your trip. Have your child explain who the artist is that’s playing as well as the artist’s story. The music discussion will start a solid dialogue in the family car and create memories that will last a lifetime.
